The Fembot’s Top 10 Hottest Women in Sci-Fi
So before Christmas, I listed my Top 10 Hottest Men in Sci-Fi. It wasn’t an easy list, as I had to go through picture after picture of amazingly gorgeous men in various states of clothing! Phew! Talk about work. This week, I had to continue this perilous work, only this time it was spent scouting out the Top 10 Hottest Women in Sci-Fi.
Not everyone is going to agree with this list - and that’s just fine. I especially don’t expect the majority of guys to agree, because men and women just have curious differences in what they consider to qualify as ‘attractive.’ I’m hoping that there are one or two individuals on here that you may have not heard of before, and decide to check them out. As I point out at the end, I could have continued this list; it would have been far easier to list, perhaps, my Top 50 Hottest Women. I hate making decisions and cutting people out, especially when they are all gorgeous in one way or another.
Anyway, on to the list...
10. Annette O’Toole (Smallville - Martha Kent)
Proof that one doesn’t get older, one gets better, and Annette has certainly done that! She was gorgeous as Superman’s love, Lana Lang, in Superman III, and now she’s even better as his mother, Martha Kent on Smallville. There’s just something about redheads - especially ones with bodies like hers. May I please look like that when I’m 51?
9. Natalie Portman (Star Wars prequels - Padme)
As much wailing and gnashing of teeth as there is when it comes to any mention of the Star Wars prequels in my presence, I will give Lucas points for one thing - he’s really good at putting together a cast of eye candy! Natalie certainly rates in the ‘nice to look at’ department. In fact, when I try to think of classically beautiful women in Hollywood today, she’s one of the first to come to mind. And she just keeps getting more beautiful every year.
8. Gina Torres (Firefly - Zoe)
Okay, I admit it. I honestly wanted to list all of the women from Firefly, but I knew I simply couldn’t allow myself to give in to my bias and do so. In the end, I forced myself to narrow it down. Gina was a given. Wash always talked about his gorgeous warrior woman, and Gina perfectly fits that bill. Have you looked at the size of her waist? She’s got the classic hourglass figure, with long legs, well-toned arms, big beautiful eyes, perfect hair - I could go on! Needless to say, where can I sign up to look like that?
7. Musetta Vander (Various)
Musetta could be one of those faces you completely forget about until you see her - and then you remember she’s been in just about every Sci-Fi series that’s aired in recent years, and how could you possibly forget her? She’s played a giant preying mantis in Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and a love interest for Teal’c in Stargate: SG-1. She’s just an absolutely gorgeous creature, with just the right amount of exotic looks that make it easy for her to pass as something other than a regular human female.
6. Tricia Helfer (Battlestar Galactica - Six)
When I first saw the character of Six on Battlestar Galactica, all I could think was ‘Skank!’ Seriously, there was just something about the woman...and I hated the fact that I couldn’t stop staring at her, and her propensity for stripping down. She had really nice shoulders, though, and long legs, and...well, and then I saw her on one of Sci-Fi’s Behind-the-Scenes specials, and positively found myself adoring Tricia Helfer. She’s nothing like the character she plays, and even more gorgeous, if such a thing is possible. I prefer her without the makeup, but I’ll take her however they hand her to me!
5. Morena Baccarin (Firefly - Inara)
My second in my choice out of the Firefly girls, I probably wouldn’t have listed Morena in my Top 10 if I hadn’t had the chance to meet her. She is positively one of the most breathtakingly beautiful women I’ve ever met face-to-face, and on top of all of that, she is pure class as well. Her skin really is that flawless, her hair really is that dark and shiny, and her eyes really are that big and beguiling. I’d change my sexual orientation for her in a heartbeat!
4. Katherine Heigl (Roswell - Isabel)
I could never really think of many reasons to watch Roswell, beyond the eye candy, and Katherine Heigl certainly fits that billing! Normally, I’m not a big fan of blondes, but I think that anyone who overlooks this female needs to have their eyes checked, or maybe their head examined. I guess women that look like this naturally have to play aliens because, unfortunately, the majority of us humble human females just don’t. There’s gotta be something in her DNA...
3. Claudia Black (Farscape - Aeryn Sun)
I’ve stated before that this woman looks good in leather, and I’ll say it again - she looks really good in leather! Tall, statuesque, dark hair...oh, and let us not be forgetting the accent! Male or female, give them an accent of any kind, and I’m pretty much done for. It’ll be nice to see her back on TV in a regular slot as the now permanent character of Vala on Stargate: SG-1. Not like that show really needs any more eye candy, but who am I to complain?
2. Claudia Christian (Babylon 5 - Susan Ivanova)
It’s funny - I ask a bunch of my fellow females who they think is one of the most gorgeous women in Sci-Fi, and the name that appears the most is Claudia Christian. Few know the name, unless they are Sci-Fi fans...or happen to have that particular 1999 issue of Playboy. She was a tough-as-nails military commander on Babylon 5, but Claudia is pure female, through and through. She’s funny, she’s smart, she’s gorgeous, and she has absolutely no problem with showing off her considerable feminine attributes.
1. Monica Bellucci (The Matrix Reloaded, Revolutions - Persephone)
You know, I really don’t think anything needs to be said here. I mean, if you don’t get it from the photo? Then you just aren’t going to get it, period.
Oddly enough, the female category of the 10 Hottest was much more difficult for me to narrow down than the male. I have a ton of other women I keep trying to work into the Top 10, but sadly, there isn’t anymore room! Runner-ups include Summer Glau, Jewel Staite (I really, really wanted them both in the Top 10), Amanda Tapping, Jessica Alba, Kristin Kreuk, Allison Mack, Katee Sackoff, Gillian Anderson, Mill Jovovich, Melinda Clarke, Jolene Blalock... The list could go on, but I think I’ll stop there before my fiancé begins to wonder what he’s getting himself into...
