In the last few months, some of the worst movies of all time have been released. Will 2006 become known as the worst movie year of all time?

Material Girls became the fastest film to hit the #1 spot on imdb.com’s bottom 100, a list which chronicles the worst voted movies of all time. The film currently has a 1.6 rating with 814 votes after only six days of release.

In July, the Wayne Brothers "comedy" Little Man became the fastest movie to enter the bottom 100 list, becoming the 24th worst movie of all time on it;s day of release.

Tim Allen’s Zoom would be in the top five if enough people actually saw the film. As of press time, Zoom is getting a 1.8 with 627 votes. IMDb claims that a film must have 650 votes to register in the bottom 100 list.

Other 2006 Releases include:

February: Date Movie starring Alyson Hannigan is currently at #68 with 9,853 votes.

February: The CG Animated film Doogal is rocking #53 with 1,021 votes.

March: Larry the Cable Inspector is currently at #30 with 3,693 votes.

April: Phat Girlz starring Mo’Nique is currently #3 on the list with 2,458 votes.

Material Girls is the seventh film to make the bottom 100 list this year. That means that on average, 2006 has turned out one of the worst films of all time on nearly a monthly basis. And director Uwe Boll didn’t even release a film this year )his two 2005 films made the list). The overall trend doesn’t look good.

Let’s look at the incline of movies which get added to the list over the past three years:

2004: 4 (Daniel - Der Zauberer, Yu-Gi-Oh!: The Movie, You Got Served, SuperBabies: Baby Geniuses 2) 2005: 9 (Son of the Mask, In the Mix, The Honeymooners, Alone in the Dark, BloodRayne, Supercross, Underclassman, Death Tunnel, The Gospel)

It’s very likely that 2006 will turn out 11 or 12 bottom 100 movies, creating a new record.
