From Moviehole.net A Peek Inside the Casting Office (serenity mention) - SpoilersFriday 12 August 2005, by Webmaster Been a while since I snuck a peep through the crack in the casting director’s door - here’s a look at who’s sitting on who’s casting couch. 13-year-old semi-newcomer Nick Krause has joined the cast of "How to Eat Fried Worms", playing Nigel. The "Jack and Bobby" co-star usually plays a Bully - so I think it’s safe to say what kind of trait his character in the film will have. Stuntman/actor Christopher Doyle ["The Toolbox Murders", "Darkman"] has joined the cast of Director Ethan Dettenmaier’s "Sin-Jin Smyth". Doyle is well respected within the industry for his ‘bravery under fire and his ability to do next-to-impossible stunt work!’. Gina Torres has officially dotted her I’s and crossed her T’s to reprise her role as Zoe in a "Serenity" sequel - if the studio calls for it. "Not everyone will be coming back, some of their stars are rising far too high, but Whedon’s locking most of the cast down for sequel one and two", says a studio insider. According to our friend with his glass against the door, "Whedon’s got his story mapped out already for the next one - it’s a tale that’ll continue for three films". While on the subject, sorry folks, I don’t know when/where any more Oz test screenings for the film will be - a fat and yummy treat by the way - but I assume the fans sites are keeping tabs. We know that Lance Armstrong wants him - but does Matt Damon wanna wear the bike-great’s slinky cycling shorts? "I really just loved his first book, ’It’s Not About the Bike.’ And the story was so incredible," Damon tells MTV. "Everybody knows about him winning and winning and winning these Tour de Frances, which is incredible to have done what he’s done, but the story of what he really went through, the in-depth story, I just thought was kind of amazing." Damon confirms, "We’ve been talking about it - but there’s nothing [yet]; it would need a great script and a great director - it would need a lot. I would only do it if it could be great". Hilary Swank’s name is being branded about as a possible female lead for Lau Wai-Keung’s english-language debut "The Flock", headlined by Richard Gere. Swank has apparently had several discussions about the film, which lenses in October. Jon Voight will replace Ian Holm - who has pulled out for personal reasons - in "John Paul II", a new CBS mini-series, reports Variety. Voight will play John Paul II from his election to the papacy to his death earlier this year. The mini-series will also star Cary Elwes, James Cromwell, Ben Gazzara, Franco Nero and Charles Dance. Tyrese Gibson has some company. Hip-hop superstar The Game and actors Meagan Good and Larenz Tate have joined the cast of "Waist Deep", the Gibson-headlined film about a chap that has to break the law to rescue his kidnapped son. Vondie Curtis-Hall directs. The Rumour Mill’s circling, and circling, and circling, with news that Jennifer Garner (in addition to a certain male cast member who has, indeed, already quit) is about to quit TV’s "Alias". Apparently Ms Garner will be gone by the next season, and in her place will be a new female star - Rachel Nichols, whose character will be introduced this season. According to the IMDB, newcomer Shaun Landers has won a role in "Scary Movie 4" opposite Anna Faris. Landers will play the character of Kyle Johnson. Chuck Norris is reprising his role as TV’s "Walker, Texas Ranger" for a new telemovie. "Walker, Texas Ranger: Trial By Fire", currrently filming in Dallas, co-stars Sheree J. Wilson (Alex Cahill), Judson Mills (Francis Gage) and Clarence Gilyard (James Trivette). The telemovie, also starring Janine Turner, has Walker trying to find a teenager who is on the run from a dangerous crime syndicate, and also clear an innocent colleague who is framed for murder. Hollywood North Report and Sneak Peek are reporting that Edward Furlong and Michael Madsen are teaming for "The Covenant", about a family man recruited to be a ’Mr Hyde’ type for a sinister evil-drowned chap. The film is scheduled to shoot in Vancouver with principal photography running from August 24 for a 3 week shoot. Josh Hutcherson won’t be starring in that "Omen" remake, as rumoured, but he will be filming a plum role in a new Robin Williams movie. Called "RV", it’ll see Hutcherson playing Williams Jr. Thanks to ’Liz’, ’E’, ’Mac-User’, ’The Beddingfields’, ’Marko’ |
