Despite not airing last Sunday night, ABC’s "Desperate Housewives" stayed in the news all week thanks to a controversial promo during "Monday Night Football." Perhaps because of the extra buzz, "Desperate Housewives" continued its ratings dominance and pushed ABC to a Sunday win. Overall, ABC averaged a 9.8 rating/15 share, comfortably beating CBS’ 8.9/14. NBC was in third with a 7.3/11, still well ahead of FOX’s 5.0/8. The WB trailed with a 1.6/2. Click Here Among adults 18-49, ABC posted a 6.8 rating. NBC was a distant second in the key demographic with a 3.7 rating, followed by FOX’s 3.5 rating. CBS was in fourth for the night with a 2.8 rating. The WB stayed fifth with a 1.1 rating. CBS started the night in first with the 9.1/15 for "60 Minutes." FOX rode "Sunday Sports" coverage (10.3/17) and "Malcolm in the Middle" (6.3/10) to second place, but due to the nature of live events, those ratings will certainly change when the final figures are released. " Dateline NBC" did a 5.9/9 for the hour to edge ABC’s "America’s Funniest Home Videos." The WB was far back with "Steve Harvey’s Big Time." "Cold Case" helped CBS hold onto first for the 8 p.m. hour with a 10.2/15. Although the CBS drama held a slim lead over ABC’s "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition," the ABC show had a wide lead in total viewers for the hour. NBC’s "American Dreams" wasn’t close to the leaders, taking third, better than FOX’s "The Simpsons" (5.6/9) and "Arrested Development" (3.8/6). The WB’s "Charmed" finished fifth with a 2.3/3. ABC grabbed first for the 9 p.m. hour with "Desperate Housewives," which did a 15.0/22, pulling in the night’s highest ratings. NBC moved up to second with the 8.8/13 for "Law & Order: Criminal Intent." CBS was third with the telefilm "When We Were Grown-Ups." On FOX, "My Big, Fat, Obnoxious Boss" drooped to a 2.2/3, its lowest ratings yet.After being dubbed a word-of-mouth hit by the New York Post just a month ago, The WB’s "The Mountain" (with James Marsters this week) hit impressive new lows with a 1.0/1, doing only a 0.8/1 in its second half-hour. NBC moved into the lead at 10 p.m. with the 9.2/15 for "Crossing Jordan." ABC slipped to second with the 8.5/13 for "Boston Legal," outdoing the 8.2/13 for CBS’ movie. 5 Forum messages |
