Looks can be deceiving. Tucker (FIREFLY’s Alan Tudyk) and Dale (Tyler Labine) are a bumbling pair of hillbillies in the wrong place at the very wrong time, resulting in a pack of camping preppie college kids mistaking them for DELIVERANCE-like psycho killers! Everything they say and do makes the duo seem even more predatory and backwoods crazy to the over-sheltered campers, who soon feel compelled to fight for their very lives… leading to a whole lot of gruesome mishaps! This in turn leads Tucker and Dale to become convinced that they’re somehow falling victim to preppie college kid suicide attacks! They are going to have much blood on their hands by the time this weekend is over. Much to their confused horror!

When TUCKER & DALE tore out of the gates at Sundance earlier this year, audiences were in rapturous hysterics and many heralded the film as the sharpest comedy/horror outing since SHAUN OF THE DEAD. Amazingly, this one actually lives up to all the superhype it’s been getting. One of the most riotously entertaining screwball splatstick epics to come along in years, T&D balances laugh-a-minute deliria with surprisingly sophisticated turns, never allowing things to fall back into one-note autopilot. Tudyk and Labine are so strong in their roles, their characters are on the verge of becoming the Bob & Doug McKenzie of splatter comedy. Oh yes—did we mention this film’s Canadian? Beyond that, with its slick cinemascope visuals and beat-perfect timing, you’d never think this could be a first feature, but that’s exactly what it is. No question, director/co-writer Eli Craig is the Next Big Thing in the raw. Throw in 30 ROCK’s Katrina Bowden as the sole college kid with a brain and you’ve got one of the most charming blood-spattered comedies ever to pull itself out of a swamp. Awesome.
