From Tvsquad.com Alyson HanniganAlyson Hannigan - "How I Met Your Mother" Sitcom - Tvsquad.com ReviewBy Ryan j Budke Saturday 22 October 2005, by Webmaster So you’ve become a "Q-List" celebrity in your town. What’s the first thing you’re going to try to do? Get into clubs of course! Or, well, pretty much anywhere that the "normal" people aren’t allowed to get into. So what is Channel 1’s (there’s a Channel 1?) newest star reporter going to do? That’s right, she’s going to get her and all of her idiot friends into OK! A club that turns out is, well, just ok, for most of the group. On with the show! This week starts with Robin letting Barney and Ted know that they can get into OK that night. They decide that they’re not going to invite Marshall and Lily because they are much more interested in becoming "grown ups". The two of them are throwing a wine tasting party. After insulting the pregnant woman at the party Marshall decides that he does need to grow up, just not that night, and jumps out the bathroom window, leaving Lily alone at the party. At the club, Robin introduces Ted to her friend Kelly. They seem to be hitting it off, but unfortunately the two of them are having completely separate conversations since the club is so loud. Barney starts dancing with a hot red-head in his "plan" to get someone that night. Ted starts having some fun with the fact that Kelly can’t hear what he’s saying ("I once got thrown out of Sea World for humping a dolphin") but, of course, right when he’s saying "I’m wetting my pants" is when the music, and his hopes of hooking up with Kelly, stop. Back at the apartment, Lily figures out that Marshall has taken off and chases after him. At the club, Robin has unfortunately gotten herself "locked out". Lily finds her sullen on the curb, and after a quick pep-talk and creative moves, the girls get themselves back in the club. Barney is still dancing with the same girl and Ted is hitting it off with the coat wench. Marshall, however, took... something in the bathroom to help his chipped tooth and is having a very good time. Lily realizes that maybe they don’t have to grow up right this second. Robin discovers that she’s not as great as she might think she is. Ted discovers that you may find something when you’re least expecting it. Marshall learns that his friends care about him and that’s why they didn’t make him choose between them and Lily. And Barney? Barney discovers he’s been dancing with his cousin all night. As of right now, I’m going to be aggravated if one of two things happen: if A) they make Alyson Hannigan the "mother" in question or B) we don’t at least meet the mother soon. I really like the real-life angle they’re putting on Lily and Marshall and I don’t want to see them broken up. Plus i think it’s a very good study of a long-standing relationship in my generation. Someone you’ve been with that long, especially through that part of your life, will more than likely be the closest friend you’ll ever have, not to mention your significant other. I really like how the writers handle these two, and I’ll be pissed if they break them up just for the sake of "shock". Let me know what you think. |
