Veronica Mars - Creator says DVDs may arrive this Fall after all!

Late in March the Veronica Mars fans were a bit disappointed after a live online chat Warner Home Video had with the members of the Home Theater Forum. As we reported just weeks ago, Warner told the folks at the chat (myself and Gord included) that there were no DVD plans yet for this show.

Now there’s different news, courtesy of Rob Thomas, the creator of Veronica Mars. At his production company’s official website, in the Frequently Asked Questions area that you can find under the Veronica Mars section (sorry, direct link isn’t possible because this site is run by Flash Player 7), comes this quote:

Will there be a Veronica Mars Season 1 DVD.

Yes. But we’ve been given a tough choice regarding how the DVD is released. Warner Home Video has told us that we can only get the DVD out in September if we don’t include any extras. They have to start pressing them right now. I would love to do extras for the package, but our team thinks it’s too important to get the DVD out before we begin season 2 to wait.

So it looks like fan input combined with show popularity has caused Warner to quickly put things in motion for the show, but the result was timing too short to allow bonus features to be included. Rob, we’d like the supplement, too, but it’s the episodes we all really want...and we can save the extras for the second season. Bring ’em on! (Quick, before someone changes their mind!) Heh, just kidding...I think. Stay tuned, and we’ll keep an eye on this and update you further once news gets around. Beyond this initial news, that is...readers are already telling us that newspapers like the Houston Chronicle are mentioning this in their entertianment or television listings sections. Meanwhile, we owe our thanks to reader Emily Holder for pointing us toward the original mention that it’s all based on.
