BEIJING, Jan. 10, (Xinhuanet) — Alyson has been busy working on her orgasms in London, for the theatre version of "When Harry Met Sally." Hollywood star Alyson Hannigan has been busy working on her orgasms on the London stage, for the theatre version of "When Harry Met Sally." Speaking at a London news conference, Hannigan said that she wants to play the role in a different way than Meg Ryan did. The movie version of the story hit cinemas in 1989 with girl-next-door Meg Ryan as leading actress. Hannigan meantime is remembered as a flute-playing, nymphomaniac teenager in the noted movie "American Pie". Enditem From Aol.com : January 8, 2004 Hannigan Orgasmic over New Stage Role By ANNE HANSFORD and STEPHEN M. SILVERMAN Practice makes perfect, the old saying goes — and Alyson Hannigan said Thursday she’s been improving her fake orgasms "all the time" as she prepares for the new London stage adaptation of "When Harry Met Sally ..." costarring Luke Perry, PEOPLE reports. For those who might have forgotten, leading lady Meg Ryan famously faked a loud orgasm in a New York deli in the 1989 movie, which costarred Billy Crystal. But that was then. Now Hannigan, 29, best known for her roles in "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" and the "American Pie" films, will reinterpret the role of Sally for the West End stage when it debuts Feb. 20. She and Perry, 38, who’ll play Harry (and is probably best remembered as the brooding Dylan McKay on TV’s "Beverly Hills, 90210"), have been rehearsing in London since Monday and are excited about the potential for the play. Perry said he "couldn’t pass it up" when asked to join the cast, while Hannigan (recently married to "Angel" star Alexis Denisof, 36) believed that the show was important enough to justify the separation from her new hubby. Still, she did insist, "We’ve got every technology out there to stay in touch." "When Harry Met Sally ...," based on the Nora Ephron screenplay, will open at the Theatre Royal Haymarket and feature music by two of the U.K.’s hottest new jazz stars, Jamie and Ben Cullum. (Jamie’s album, "Twenty Something" is the fastest-selling jazz recording in British history.) The two have reworked the original movie score, adding a few compositions of their own. As for that memorable bit of moaning, head-shaking and table slapping that Sally does so well, Hannigan assures (with a laugh): "Well, Meg Ryan and I are different people, so I’m sure our orgasms will be slightly different." From Centredaily.com : Posted on Thu, Jan. 08, 2004 People in the news Knight Ridder Newspapers (KRT) - Alyson Hannigan is about to fill some legendary shoes in classic film moments: "The American Pie" and "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" star is set to appear opposite Luke Perry in the upcoming West End production of "When Harry Met Sally," reports Ananova.com. And yes, she’s practicing for The Scene that Meg Ryan made famous. In the 1989 movie, Ryan memorably demonstrated to Billy Crystal how to fake an orgasm over dinner in a New York restaurant, prompting one fellow diner to say: ``I’ll have what she’s having.’’ ``I’ve been practicing all the time,’’ Hannigan says. ``She’s a different person than I am, so I imagine our orgasms would be slightly different. But I hope it will still be funny.’’ The production opens at the Theatre Royal in Haymarket next month, with music by British jazz star Jamie Cullum. Perry has appeared on Broadway in "The Rocky Horror Show" but is best known for playing the brooding Dylan on the TV series "Beverly Hills, 90210." He also starred in the original film version of "Buffy," which flopped in 1992, several years before the TV series debuted and became a cult smash. The 38-year-old, making his London stage debut, said he wasn’t worried about comparisons between the play and the movie. ``It’s in a fantastic theater, the producers have spared no expense, Jamie Cullum is doing the music - there’s a lot of great things going into this production,’’ he said. |
