Angel 5.21 FAQ

What’s it called?

“Power Play.”

Who’s responsible?

Teleplay is credited to David Fury (“Destiny,” “You’re Welcome”).

What does TV Guide say?

“The gang fears that working at Wolfram & Hart has finally corrupted Angel after he chooses to work for an evil senatorial candidate rather than investigate the brutal murder of a young woman. Their concerns increase when Drogyn, keeper of the deep well, arrives badly wounded and claims that Angel sent an assassin to dispatch him. Sen. Brucker: Stacey Travis. Nina: Jenny Mollen. Drogyn: Alec Newman. Hamilton: Adam Baldwin. Lindsay: Christian Kane. Harmony: Mercedes McNab. Izzy: Mark Colson.”

Is it as good as last week’s episode?

Please.

Angel turns evil again?? How many times is that now?

Five? Six? It’s what Angel does. Gypsies, a filthy people! Puh!

Why wasn’t Angel evil last week?

Well, he was kinda of insecure and selfish, no? The very gateways to evil! (sheepishly) I’ve no idea.

Did Nina turn him back into Angelus?

She gives it the old college try. But only Buffy Summers, apparently, provides the perfect happiness.

Who’s Izzy? You said in an earlier post he’d been seen previously?

Izzy was in Fury’s last episode; he looks like the devil himself. I’m not certain anyone called him Izzy when he last appeared, but you may recognize him.

How goes it with Wes and Illyria?

Wes is giving Ill the silent treatment, so highly disturbed was he at her Winifred impression last week. She is not taking it well.

Charles and Krevlornswath?

Both mostly continue to be confused about Angel’s not terribly heroic behavior.

Lindsey McDonald.

He explains much about what the Wolf, Ram and Hart have really been up to, especially this season.

The big news?

Cordelia Crane Chase puts in one last pivotal appearance!

What else is TV Guide not telling us?

Shanshu Schmanshu! Last week’s episode was not only hilarious, it was important: Angel wasn’t kidding at the end when he told Spike he was moving on. For the first time since we met him, we sense Angel’s goals no longer revolve around winning a slayer’s heart.

What’s great?

Hamilton!! “That’s not a stake.” “I may not always be.” “Yeah. You wh-what?” “We can’t sweat the small stuff.” Spike (remember how he used to call Buffy’s sis “platelet”) and use of the terms “Blue Meanie” and “Keeblers.” “I had a lock on the chick vote. I didn’t claw my way up from hell and get installed in some human body just to have some pedophile steal my Senate seat.” “Except that one ... “ “Okay, yeah. That might do it.” “Four of them getting in shape for ‘Young Guns III’.” “Then you’re the liar, Aragorn!” “Crash Bandicoot?” “Whoa. Hey hey hey. Can I not be the poster child for your nervous breakdown here?” “Then I guess you don’t get one.” “Show me a fourth ticket.” “It is a test!” “It’s pointless. And annoys me. And yet I am compelled to play on.” “Or maybe you’re just not that cool!” “Evil’s not the point. Power is.” “Two months ago. With a kiss.” “I can’t order you to do this. I can’t do it without you.”

What’s not so great?

No Jenny Calendar. Even in flashback. And would it kill them to work Ms. Kitty Fantastico in somewhere?

How does it end, spoiler-boy?

“Angel! We got three people here! Drop it!!”
