As speculated, the netlet has shifted the freshman drama "The Mountain" to 9 p.m. on Wednesdays. Replacing "The Mountain" on Thursday nights will be the comedy duo of "Blue Collar TV" and "Drew Carey’s Green Screen Show," which had been set to follow "Smallville" in The WB’s original schedule. "In such a fluid programming environment, you have to effectively counter-program the competition and remain agile to be competitive," says WB CEO Jordan Levin. "These moves will make us stronger on both nights, given the opportunities created by other network’s recent scheduling moves, and thus just made a great deal of sense for our viewers, advertisers and affiliates." "The Mountain" stars Oliver Hudson as a prodigal son who returns to his family’s mountain home when he late grandfather leaves him a ski resort. The series also stars Barbara Hershey and Anson Mount. When The WB slotted "The Mountain" for Thursdays, it seemed that the show would be moving into a young adult vacuum after the passing of "Friends." Instead, FOX pulled a surprise by shifting "The O.C." from Wednesday nights to Thursday, creating primetime soap logjam. Both dramas come from Warner Bros. TV and McG and Stephanie Savage work on both shows. Further muddying the Thursday 8 p.m. waters was NBC’s "Joey," which also comes from WBTV. Even without "Friends," the slot remains ultra-competitive and FOX Entertainment President Gail Berman has already promised to shift "The O.C." if it gets buried by "Joey" and CBS’ "Survivor." 11 Forum messages |
