Anthony Head (Merlin, Free Agents) stars in a film that’s being touted as a potential Oscar contender: The Iron Lady. Oscar winner Meryl Streep stars as the former Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Margaret Thatcher, and according to Head she’s incredible in the role.

On the red carpet at the Syfy/E! party at the 2011 Comic Con, Head talked about Streep as Thatcher, playing Thatcher’s right-hand man Geoffrey Howe (the architect of her economic plan), meeting the real Howe, researching the role, how this story is a King Lear for a new generation, and the film’s theme of power and what happens when it’s taken away:

The Iron Lady stars Meryl Streep, Jim Broadbent, Anthony Head, and Richard E Grant, and will be released in theaters on December 16, 2011.
