Buffy the Vampire Slayer Status: Rumored Rumors of a new Buffy the Vampire Slayer movie have been going around since the genre hit series starring Sarah Michelle Gellar went off the air in 2003. Creator Joss Whedon has consistently tempered expectations over the years, but now that vampires are proving to be all the rage at the box office, might he and his cast of characters be enticed into a big-screen reunion? We certainly don’t see why stars like Gellar and David Boreanaz would have a problem reprising their roles. And a studio could easily be convinced that a reasonably budgeted Buffy movie could make money — just look at the success of Twilight, the Underworld series, etc. The latest rumor dates back to November of last year: An Australian newspaper printed a report that Whedon had indeed completed a script and was just waiting for a studio to express interest. But he’s made no public statements to support that report. And if they can’t make a movie adaptation work, we suggest taking the whole concept to Broadway. If Spider-Man can make the seemingly wacky leap to the stage, so can Buffy. A new Buffy flick would be unique in that the show was itself based on a movie. (...) Click on the link for more : |
