One of the first female takes on the nerdy best friend, Willow was originally introduced as very studious and shy with a diehard crush on guy pal Xander. As the series progressed, Willow stepped out from sidekick status, evolving into a very powerful witch with the ability to bring Buffy back from the dead, and goes to the Dark Side and back. Her sexuality even takes a turn as she gives up on Xander and prefers to "get the girl," becoming one of the most prominent and popular lesbian characters on television.
