David Greenwalt comments on the episode "Angel" and what he considers as the greatest Buffy Arc ever. "When those two kissed there was suddenly so much myth between them."

It was David’s episode Angel that first revealed the character’s vampire nature and past. Looking back, he (David Greenwalt) had no idea they would be capturing lightning in a bottle by pairing Buffy and Angel together. "We knew David Boreanaz was a special talent, but frankly nobody wanted to do that episode" he said candidly. "I said I’d do it tand then, my God almighty, when those two kissed there was suddenly so much myth between them. It made me so happy, when I might have considered it corny years before. It eventually led to the greatest Buffy arc ever, with Angel becoming Angelus."
