"Buffy : Season 8" Comic Book - Issue 21 - Peace and ... Harmony ... ?

Thursday 15 January 2009, by Webmaster

Hey everybody — first up, Buffy is up for some Wizard fan awards, so go vote for Buffy and for me, and Joss’s work on Astonishing —

This month kicked off a major new arc of Season Eight, written by Jane Espenson, and featuring Harmony Kendall as the star of her own fangtastic reality show. This arc is gonna be a lot different than what’s come before in Season Eight, in that each issue is written by a different writer, and each issue is standalone, focusing on an array of characters — without getting too far from the Buffy of it. It’ll also upset the world, creating a very hostile environment for the Slayers, who’ve sort of had enough trouble already. By now you should have read Buffy #21, if you’re the kind to bother coming to a blog like this. But if you haven’t read Harmony’s story on MDHP, you’ll wanna go right over there. You should also check out Harmony’s guest blog on MTV.com, (actually written by Jane Espenson). And for the scavenger hunters among you, dig the back covers of B.P.R.D.: The Black Goddess #1, The Cleaners #2, Kull #3, or Solomon Kane #4, all of which come out this month and feature a special three-page tribute to Harmony, with art by Jo Chen and Georges Jeanty, and a Q&A with Harmony (again, written by Jane . . .). Just last week I did a Q&A response to Buffy #21 at Slayalive.com, something I do every month after the new issue comes out.

Next month sees the release of Steven DeKnight’s tale of Kennedy and Satsu in Japan, and you’ll want to look to MDHP again for another tie-in there, with art by Camilla d’Errico. We’re having good times with this new arc, hoping to keep you busy between DVR viewing and reviewing of episodes of Dollhouse. Also, hoping to see you all at New York Comic-Con, February 6-8, where we’ll be making some announcements about the year to come for Season Eight.

Peace —
