Whedon.info Buffy The Vampire Slayer"Buffy Season 8" Comic Book - Issue 5 "The Chain" - Scott Allie ColumnSunday 29 July 2007, by Webmaster Hi everybody, This issue (#5 "The Chain") was a departure, of course, without even an appearance by buffy. This is the sort of thing we’re gonna do - not all the time, but occasionally - in this season of Buffy, something that makes sense in a monthly series. Oh, about that - monthly - yeah, we had to skip a month for scheduling purposes. We’re very serious about getting this book out on time, and sometimes on time is going to mean that we schedule breaks. Yes, it does so mean we’re on time. Late is when you say it’s gonna come out, and it doesn’t. The next break we have planned isn’t until after issue nine, and then after that we don’t expect to do one for over a year - but that remains to be seen. I want to thank Paul Lee for jumping in to give Georges a break here. Paul has worked with me for years, most notably on covers for the old run of Buffy. The comic that landed him this job was Buffy #55 (he said, off the top of his head), which we’ve collected in the first volume of Buffy Omnibus, a series of seven 300-page books reprinting the entire run of the old series. Paul wrote, drew, colored, and lettered "Dawn and Hoopy the Bear," a very weird one about a very young dawn. Paul’s been busy lately on our Conan Series, doing fill-ins around Cary Nord, and generally being mistaken for Pat Lee. (Thanks, internet !) As i write this, we’re going down to the wire, trying to get the book out early so that Joss can have it in his hot little hans at that show, please go over and thank Paul, Dave, Andy, and Jimmy for burning the midnight oil to make it possible. Oh, and thanks Joss, too. Now i’ll keep my mouth shut until the end. Scott Allie |
