Ign.com Buffy The Vampire Slayer"Buffy The Vampire Slayer : Sacrifice" Video Game is presented at the 2008 Game ConventionSaturday 23 August 2008, by Webmaster So apparently when Buffy the Vampire Slayer ended its TV run, Sunnydale was destroyed. So how could this Nintendo DS game, set right after the end of the television series, take place in Sunnydale? Well, I guess you’re just going to have to play it to find out, won’t you? The Nintendo DS game was on display at 505Games’ booth at the Games Convention in Germany. Buffy the Vampire Slayer is this interesting melding of Resident Evil-style third person adventuring, and first-person shooting. In much of the game you’re running around environments of fixed camera perspective kicking undead bad guys’ butts until they’re even more undead than when they started. Most of the action is D-pad and button controlled, but you’ll earn special powerups that need to be activated by drawing a symbol on the touch screen. Every so often – mostly during boss battles, according to 505 – the game will jump to a fully 3D engine where you’re roaming hallways from a first-person view using the touch screen as mouselook a la every FPS on the system. The game features all the likenesses of the actors from the television show – securing the Buffy license must’ve included the rights to all the characters as well. A bargain! The story of the game is told via "talking heads" and text – no voice over. 505 Games doesn’t have a distributor for the game outside of Europe, so if this game is ever to see the light of day in North America the company will need to sign a deal to get the job done. |
