A week ago sharp-eyed readers noticed our story about Fox Home Entertainment’s "Starter Set" program, in which a group of TV properties from the studio each get a separate single-disc release containing a sampling of episodes from the show’s first season. It’s quite similar to a program Warner did in the middle of 2004. One of the four initial releases in Fox’s "Starter Set" program is Buffy the Vampire Slayer - Starter Set: Season 1, Episodes 1 & 2. The first 2 episodes of the show’s first season ("Welcome to Hellmouth" and "The Harvest") running at 88 minutes will arrive on March 22nd, at a price of just $9.98 SRP. There will also be trailers and spots included: Buffy - Season 1 trailer, TV spots for all Buffy Seasons 1-7, TV spots for Angel Seasons 1-4, Tru Calling TV spot, and a 24 - Season 3 spot. If you enjoy what you see, then you can use the valuable $10 "coupon" inside the Starter Set release to purchase any Buffy the Vampire Slayer entire season DVD set, packed with exclusive extras. Fox hasn’t specified yet, but the "coupon" is very likely going to be a mail-in rebate, so there won’t be any issue for people who purchase their season sets online. Speaking of online purchases, you don’t have to pay full price for that "Starter Set" sampler. DVDPlanet.com is taking pre-orders on it for just $6.99 discounted price! The sampler is also going to be available in Canada for a CAN $11.98 SRP. Here’s a look at the packaging for the starter kit. Note that the item is available for retailers to order both with and without the "$10 Coupon" sticker on the outside. Even if you don’t see the sticker, the offer ought to be found inside. |
