Smrt-tv.com Buffy The Vampire SlayerBuffy’s Episode "Band Candy" - Smrt-tv.com Podcast ReviewD. Roberts Keenan Wednesday 18 January 2006, by Webmaster PODCAST: Gluttony, the Most Delicious Sin A commentary on Buffy the Vampire Slayer’s "Band Candy" I’ll admit it: I’m a Catholic. That means that I grew up practicing ritual cannibalism once a week. (Mmm, sacrilicious!) And it means that I find myself continually amused by a large subset of horror movies. Let’s face it: When you’ve got demonic possession, hellspawn or vampires, you tend to chase down a Catholic to get you out of it. (One never sees a Presbyterian exorcism, does one?) This means that for the first two installments of our little trip down the Road of Good Intentions, I’ve brought a healthy dose of my past and upbringing to the mix. This time, as we discuss the third Deadly Sin, Gluttony, I allow you to gorge your ears and brains with a total of three commentators discussing two religious perspectives found within one superb episode of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. The episode is "Band Candy," found on the second disc of Season Three. My guest commentators are Jana Swanson of Seattle, a Joss Whedon disciple, Mormon and all-around fun gal; and Andrew Thiemens of Spokane, a longtime Buffy fan who also thinks Buffy’s Andrew was more fun as a raging ’mo.. Then there’s me, but you already know the sound of my voice. Next time, we bring you Lust - the fourth on our list of Deadlies (does that make it the hump sin?) - as seen in Smallville.
