Charisma Carpenter Rules Out Angel
Wednesday 25 August 2004, by Webmaster
Former Angel star Charisma Carpenter told TV Guide Online that she’s not interested in reprising the role of Cordelia Chase in any proposed Angel TV movies or feature films. "You know, I’m not interested," she told the site. "Not because of [star] David [Boreanaz] or anyone I worked with. I think we’re all just done. I don’t think my fans should be offended, because they’re not Angel- or Buffy-specific. They’ve proven over time that they’ll follow me no matter what I do, so I’m not afraid of taking anything away from them, and I hope they wouldn’t feel that way." Boreanaz has also said he’s not interested in doing a TV movie, but might consider a feature film.
Carpenter will guest-star this fall as a clairvoyant in at least two episodes of The WB’s witch series Charmed. (Her first appearance airs Sept. 26, TV Guide reported.) As with Cordelia, Carpenter agains plays "another psychic!" she said. "At least I’m not in a coma on this show. They’re both sassy girls, but this character is more of a temptress than a smartass. She’s toying with Leo [Brian Krause]."
As for whether her character, simply called "Seer," appears in more episodes, Carpenter said: "I’m happy to do more. It would depend on whether my pilot is picked up. I’m thrilled to be here, because I have a relationship with Holly Marie Combs [Piper]. We did my ABC Family movie See Jane Date together, and we’re both new moms. It’s also interesting to be back doing this supernatural genre. I know it, and it’s familiar."
Carpenter’s pilot is for a midseason replacement for UPN. "It was called Play Nice, but now it’s called Like Cats and Dogs," she said. "I’m the girl on the show, and it’s about my life with my fun-loving brother [played by Canadian actor Tyler Labine]. I’m an uptight lawyer, and he comes to live with me and my houseful of dogs."

Is it just me or are all the people that were NOTHING before they met Joss Whedon suddenly starting to distance themselves from that ’universe’, like they think it’s a sinking ship? I mean, CC had absolutely no stardom before Buffy/Angel, DB had even less, and the transition from child actress to teenage actress wasn’t working all that well for SMG.
I get that they don’t wan’t to reprise their roles, and that’s fine, but it’s another thing to want to distance yourself that much from the character that brought you fame in the first place. It’s just not very well mannered.

Yes it is a ’little’ cocky and egotistical (I said a little, even though those are strong words) but that’s show business for ya.

You know what krapnek, I think it’s perfectly fine that the actors want to distance themself from the characters; they played for 7 or 8 yrs, some less.
After all they’re actors, they’d like to try something new and Joss is not God, like most people think and the universe doesn’t revolve around him
all the time.
All people, (as in actors) do not like to be attached to the same character day in and day out. I’m sure SMG doesn’t like to be connected to Buuy all the time hence she’s moving on. And so are the rest of the BTVS and ATS cast would love to be associated with other things besides vampires.
Yes Joss created an awesome show and yes most of the actors and actresses were discovered on the shows... but
If you were a true fan to any one of them it wouldn’t matter what they decided to do next or that they chose to not return to that particular show, you would be 100% behind them!!
That’s what fans do, support their fav. actor or actress......

well, that’s unfortunate, but i don’t think any future projects would suffer from cordy not being there. her character was wrapped up nicely in "you’re welcome".
and i suppose there are plenty of people who will follow her on whatever project she’s on, but i can’t say i’m one of them. i mean, i like angel as a show, and i like the actors on it, but i won’t watch crap just because the’re in it. ah well. that’s just me.

How is it wrong to want to keep from being typecast? That’s exactly the point people like Charisma Carpenter, David Boreanaz and Sarah Michelle Gellar are trying to drive home. It was fun for them and it really helped them get noticed, but they do need to put a little distance between them and the roles that made them famous, lest they suffer the same fate as the cast of the original Star Trek. Chances are, they won’t ever match the popularity they found with the Buffyverse, but they can’t really be blamed for trying, can they? Charisma and all the others involved in BtVS and ANGEL provided us with eight years of quality television. If you choose not to watch anything else these actors try out, that’s your prerogative, but don’t chastise them for desiring to continue on with their lives and careers.

What are the chances that she would be asked?? I mean, I love her, but she did get fired. So, I think this might just be her way of making it look like her decision.

Well that’s upsetting. Though, I bet they could’ve done the Angel Tv movie without CC (God forbid), without DB there is no Angel Tv Movie. Ah well...it’s their decision.

I’m glad that in any future Angel movies orwhatever she won’t be in them she is way uited to a show with higher raitings that Angel like Charmed, I never liked Angel I hated it but I’m a huge Buffy fan but I’m glad she won’t be coming back I’d love to see her as a min character in Charmed. And no wonder she isn’t interested the writing last saeason was really really bad it only got good towards the end.
I say leave Angel Charisma you can do so much better and be in Charmed and hopefully she’ll get her pilot picked up so she doesbn’t need Angel anymore she is suited for a better show than that Charmed is where she should belong in a decnt show.

I’m not that big a fan of any of the actors - I love the show(s). There’s an abundance of actors, but there’s not a lot of Joss Whedons. Or Marti Noxons, David Greenwalts, Douglas Petries, David Furys, Jane Espensons or Drew Goddards.
