Chiwetel Ejiofor

Chiwetel Ejiofor, perhaps best known to IGN’s readers as The Operative in Joss Whedon’s Serenity, is in talks to join the cast of the Angelina Jolie spy thriller Salt.

The film, which will be directed by Phillip Noyce at Columbia Pictures, is about a CIA operative named Salt (played by Jolie) who is believed to be a Russian sleeper agent who is on a mission to assassinate the president. Salt must battle her accusers while attempting to prove her innocence and locate the true traitor.

Ejiofor will take on the role of a CIA counterintelligence officer. Liev Schreiber also stars as Salt’s boss and friend. Anyone wanna take a guess now as to who the real traitor is? Schreiber or Ejiofor? Ah, Hollywood…

Shooting begins next month in New York. Ejiofor will be seen next in Roland Emmerich’s end-of-the-world-ish 2012.
