From Sunstar.com.ph David BoreanazDavid Boreanaz - ’Angel’ star in new ad campaign to save dogsSaturday 28 May 2005, by Webmaster DOGS may be man’s best friends but they now have a "guardian angel" looking out for them. David Boreanaz, star of Studio 23’s hit show "Angel", appears with his dogs, Fritz and Bertha Blue, in a new billboard ad aimed at saving dogs that spend their entire lives chained in backyards. People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) and Philippine Animal Welfare Society (Paws) are teaming up to launch the campaign. The first barrage of the new ad whose spaces were generously donated by the Makati Commercial Estate Association (Macea) Inc. will go up in the heavily traveled underground passes in the heart of the bustling Makati business district Friday, including two in the underpass at the intersection of Paseo de Roxas and Ayala Ave. Following the Manila launch, the ads will appear in other cities in the country. Titled "Be Your Dog’s Angel", the ad’s tagline reads, "Play with them ... take them for nice long walks ... don’t ever chain them." Boreanaz, Paws and Peta are encouraging people to make their dogs a part of their families by bringing them indoors and treating them with love and respect. In the Philippines, countless numbers of dogs are condemned to live in "solitary confinement", trapped in backyards at the end of a chain or in a small pen, often with no more than shoddy, makeshift shelters to protect them from the elements. Aching for companionship, they suffer through frightening monsoons and suffocating heat and are often left without vital veterinary care. Living day after day in isolation causes loneliness and distress for the social, pack-oriented animals, causing them to become frustrated and, ultimately more aggressive. "Being banished for life to a chain is one of the worst punishments imaginable for dogs, who crave companionship," said Peta Asia-Pacific director Jason Baker. "Dogs are safest and happiest living indoors with their families." For more information, please visit www.HelpingAnimals.com (PR) 2 Forum messages |
