The series has had a promising first season, holding up nicely in its Wednesday 8 o’clock slot. It has defeated its regular competition in the key 18-49 and 25-54 demographics. The series initially aired Tuesdays at 8 against NCIS but later moved to Wednesdays, where it got a big boost airing alongside American Idol. The move made Bones the second Fox drama after House to take advantage of the talent contest’s mammoth ratings. Compared with last season, Bones has boosted the timeslot for Fox by 56% in 18-49 (excluding "Idol" numbers). The series premiere was, at the time, the highest-rated primetime Tuesday night drama since the 2001 debut of Fox’s 24. Fox has already renewed House, The Simpsons, King of the Hill and Family Guy for next season. Twentieth Century Fox TV-produced Bones stars Emily Deschanel as a forensic anthropologist who works with an FBI agent (David Boreanaz) to investigate murders.
