Each Wednesday during the season, one of the league’s celebrity owners will appear on NFL Total Access to discuss the league and interview an NFL player. This week’s guest will be, Rex Linn, co-star of CSI: Miami and owner of undefeated T-Rex. (Sept. 12, 2006) — The more things change, the more they stay the same. In the only battle this week between two league newcomers, Rex Linn of CSI: Miami saw his T-Rex squad defeat Dis ’n Dat, the team owned by Bones star David Boreanaz, 99-74. Season 3 of the NFL Total Access Hollywood Fantasy League has brought huge changes — six teams from last year have been contracted and four new teams have joined the fold. The Monte Clark and Wayne Fontes divisions have given way to the Crockett and Tubbs divisions. Yet with all the newness this season, it was defending Hollywood League champ Nipsey Russell that dominated Week 1. Nipsey Russell owner Jeff Garlin, getting set for a new season of Curb Your Enthusiasm on HBO, watched his enthusiastic fantasy team pick up where it left off in 2005. Nipsey scored a Week 1-best 125 points in a rout of league newcomer Michele Williams and her squad, The Bootylicious Browns. Garlin’s team was so well-balanced, all eight starters scored in double digits. Larry Joe Campbell’s The Abattoir was also impressive, scoring a 107-75 win over Paul Rudd’s Tastes Like Chicken. The impressive trio of Donovan McNabb, Tiki Barber and the Bears defense amassed 90 points for The Abattoir. Another Hollywood League veteran, Nick Bakay, won the closest game of the week — a 98-94 win over Faulk U, the team co-owned by league veteran Guy Torry and newcomer Kellita Smith of The Bernie Mac Show. Bakay was led by Cardinals QB Kurt Warner, who racked up 34 points. (Note: Bakay changed his team name this year from "Nick Bakay’s Love Handles" to just "The Love Handles." Which begs the question: If they’re not Bakay’s Love Handles, then whose are they?) NFLTAHL Week 1 Results: T-Rex 99, Dis ’n Dat 74
