Breaking News: WHAT FOX HAS TO SAY ABOUT THE ’DOLLHOUSE’ RETURN FOR SEASON 2

It may have been one of Fox’s lowest rated shows, but it was the most talked about during Fox’s Fall presentation

THE SKINNY: During Fox’s 2009-2010 Fall/Midseason presentation this morning with reporters, one of the most talked about show’s was the network’s struggling DOLLHOUSE. Created by Joss Whedon, the series had a loyal audience, but its numbers were no where near the highs of their other sci-fi show FRINGE.

Still, it thankfully got a second season pick-up and here’s what Fox Entertainment President Kevin Reilly had to say about the show today.

On bringing DOLLHOUSE back despite low ratings ...

"This is Joss Whedon," says Reilly. "You look at profile of show, unbelievably loyal fan base, its consistentency in live ratings and you’re placing a bet Joss will keep it going next year. The DVR numbers are a marker and it is a factor. We did see an uptick in ratings. We [went from a]1.5 to a 2 in the DVR plus 7 numbers. That was a pattern we liked."

On betting on DOLLHOUSE versus its other struggling sci-fi show TERMINATOR: THE SARAH CONNOR CHRONICLES ...

"Terminator has completed its run and it was a good show, but we saw it trailing off," says Reilly. "Ultimately we bet on DOLLHOUSE for the night. So that’s it for TERMINATOR."

ON KEEPING SCRIPTED SHOW ON FRIDAY NIGHTS THIS FALL ...

"Again, keeping scripted assets on the air was important to us and the advertising guys want it on the air," says Reilly. "We love having a scripted Friday night."

On the voracity of DOLLHOUSE’s audience ...

"If we cancelled his show, I would have had hundreds of emails from his fans this morning," says Reilly. "That audience has a core you can work with."
