Homemediamagazine.com Dollhouse"Dollhouse" Tv Series - Season 1 DVD wins a TV DVD AwardMonday 4 January 2010, by Webmaster Universal Studios Home Entertainment’s complete-series boxed set of the sci-fi series “Battlestar Galactica” has been named TV DVD of the year as part of the sixth annual TV DVD Awards. “This was an absolute home run,” said Bill Hunt of TheDigitalBits.com. “It delivered top-notch A/V quality — better than viewers had ever seen it before — and was simply packed with amazing bonus material. Plus, it was one of the best shows on TV over the last few years. Just a superb viewing experience.” The sixth annual TV DVD Awards were presented by Home Media Magazine, Agent DVD Magazine and TVShowsOnDVD.com. A panel of judges, composed of DVD critics and journalists, selected five finalists in each of 11 categories from a field of studio submissions of titles released between Oct. 1, 2008, and Sept. 30, 2009. Winners were determined by an online consumer vote conducted in November at HomeMediaMagazine.com, TVShowsOnDVD.com and TheDigitalBits.com. The judges panel selected the Title of the Year winner from among all entries. Winners were announced Jan. 4. The “Battlestar Galactica” set, available on both DVD and Blu-ray Disc, includes not only all four seasons of the 2003-09 series but a Cylon action figure as well. It also won for Best Complete-Series Set. Best Current Series, honoring shows with episodes that aired within the last two years, went to HBO’s vampire drama True Blood: The Complete First Season, which enjoyed a groundswell of support from online fan sites. Similarly, Lucille Ball fans drove the first season DVD set of “The Lucy Show” to victory in the Best Vintage Series category, honoring shows that aired before 1989. Joss Whedon fans helped make Dollhouse: Season One a winner in the Best Extras category. The DVD and Blu-ray sets include an unaired episode called “Epitaph One,” which set up many of the storylines in season two (the show was canceled during the second season). For Best Contemporary Series, honoring shows with episodes that aired between 1990 and 2006, fans chose the 12th season of “The Simpsons,” which originally aired in 2000 and 2001. Best TV on Blu-ray went to the remastered second season of the original “Star Trek” series, which offered new visual effects and allowed the viewer to toggle between the new and old versions.
