Eliza Dushku

Before wrapping up work on "On Broadway," the lovely Eliza Dushku had a sitdown in Waltham with director Sam Weisman, who gave the actress one of her first film roles way back when.

``She said she wants to buy a place and spend more time here," reports Weisman, who directed Dushku in "Bye Bye Love ." (Just 14 at the time, the Watertown native played Paul Reiser’s daughter.)

Weisman, who lives in Newton, said Dushku may be right for a movie he’s producing for screenwriter/director Stephen Belber . . . . Locals making Paste magazine’s highly arbitrary list of the "100 Best Living Songwriters" include James Taylor (53), Aimee Mann (54), and Pixies frontman Charles Thompson (66 ) . Bob Dylan ranks No. 1 on the list released yesterday, and T-Bone Burnett, who’s at the Somerville Theatre Friday, checks in at No. 100.
