Eliza Dushku confirms Tru Calling cancellation

Saturday 23 October 2004, by Webmaster

On October 16th and 17th, Eliza Dushku and Shawn Reaves appeared at the London Movie, Comic and Media Expo in the UK. They signed autographs for hundreds of fans, and did confirm that Tru Calling has been canceled.

According to multiple reports from fans who spoke to him, Shawn said that fans need to fight to see the six episodes that were filmed for Season 2. So help Shawn and Eliza and join the fight to Save Tru!

Also, the news posted on Miracleshq.com has been confirmed to be accurate:

"Tru Calling" has been cancelled before the second season has a chance to begin this fall. FOX cut the order of episodes from 13 to six and then just as shooting for the sixth episode was wrapping up, the cancellation came out. There are no immediate plans to air the final six episodes. A DVD of the first season is set to come out in December, and if it sells well, they might release the final six episodes on DVD at a later date.

FOX can eat my ass. I am so tired of this. They pull the plug on great shows like Wonderfalls without even giving it a chance, and then they went and shat on the one decent thing they had. They seemed to actually support Tru Calling, it seemed to me, but then they have turned their back by limiting Season 2’s episode run, then pushing it back, and now up canning it. Why did they even bother?

I’ve asked this before and I’ll keep asking it: with its reputation, why in Mor-Tax do people keep taking shows to that network? It’s like spending a summer at Camp Crystal Lake - you’ll be lucky to make it out alive.

Tru Calling wasn’t the best show I’ve ever seen, but it had enough to keep me watching. I would swear never to watch FOX again, but they’re bound to pick up something good - and then they’ll cancell it!

I’m not surprised. Tru Calling wasn’t bad, it just didn’t have "it".

Tru Calling wasn’t a great show, and this frees up her schedule to do other projects, possibly a Faith-related one...Still, I can see where fans of the show are terribly angry. Believe me, I would much rather watch Tru Calling than any one of these stupid, offensive Fox "reality" shows. Whedon was right when he called TV’s trend today loathsome.

How can they cancel such a great show? They could at least give it a second season to see if it lives up to their standards. The first season of Buffy wasn’t all that great, but think if they had cancelled it then...

it really saddens me to see you pull the plug on Tru Calling i really enjoyed the first season and i know if you would have continued with the show to and thru its second season it would have really made a huge impact when the new rating came out. i believe you should still play the six episodes that where already recorded
