From Thisisgrimsby.co.uk Buffy The Vampire Slayer’Fang-tastic’, Fans Of Buffy Question Tv StarBy Phillip Norton Friday 2 May 2003, by Webmaster Vampire Slayer Glory is used to a nip in the air - but it was a real chiller when US actress Clare Kramer appeared in Grimsby last night. Clare, who plays Glory in the cult TV show Buffy The Vampire Slayer, was star guest at the third Slayerfest - a tribute to the supernatural. She delighted a sell-out audience at the Caxton Theatre with a question and answer session. But after getting her teeth into signing dozens of autographs, Clare admitted the weather was not as welcoming as the fans. "It is cold compared to Los Angeles," she joked. "Grimsby seems like a really nice place but I haven’t had too much time to look around. "I really enjoyed it in the theatre. As with every guest talk there is always new questions and it was a great audience." Scott Middleton (23) helped organise the event. He said: "It has been quite difficult to plan - we have thought and planned for everything and anything that could go wrong. "It is quite exciting and there are a lot of excited faces." Buffy is one of the most popular science fiction programmes on American and British screens and the Slayerfest events pay homage to the cast, films, shows and books. As well as appearing in the programme, Clare also has a range of television and film credits and appears in the new American Psycho prequel, The Rules Of Attraction. Eager fans said they were delighted to meet one of their idols. Healing Comprehensive School pupil Stephanie Wood (15) said: "Clare is amazing and one of my favourites - I came dressed as her to the last Slayerfest. "I like her attitude and she has an amazing dress sense." Stuart Bingley (37), of Lord Street, Grimsby, has travelled as far as Glasgow in the past to meet members of the cast. "We are really into Buffy and it is a rare chance to see someone from the show," he said. "It was a shock to find there is someone from the series appearing in Grimsby." The packed theatre erupted in cheers and screams as the actress took her position on the stage. Fans asked a range of questions about her life on and off the screen as well as being given acting tips and advice. All proceeds from the Slayerfest: Glory-ous event went towards the theatre’s disabled access fund. Organiser Andy Evans said: "It has been fantastic, brilliant." |
