Fast National Ratings For Sunday, June 27, 2004

Tuesday 29 June 2004, by xanderbnd

CBS dusted off the old telefilm "The Soul Collector" and it drew a large enough audience to give the network a comfortable Sunday win, holding onto its early evening momentum.

Overall, CBS averaged a 6.5 rating/12 share, well in front of second place NBC’s 5.0/9 and third place ABC’s 4.1/7. FOX was a distant fourth with a 3.1/6, better than The WB’s 1.3/2.

Among adults 18-49, though, ABC won the night with a 2.5 rating. FOX and NBC posted the same 2.4 rating to tie for second in the important demographic. CBS’ 2.1 rating still easily beat The WB’s 0.8 rating.

CBS began the night with a large lead thanks to the 7.3/15 for "60 Minutes." ABC was a distant second with the 3.7/8 for "America’s Funniest Home Videos." FOX was third with the combination of NASCAR and "King of the Hill" outperforming the Olympic Gymnastics Trials on NBC, which did a 3.1/6. The WB trailed with "Steve Harvey’s Big Time."

At 8 p.m., "Cold Case" gave CBS a second hourly win with a 6.8/12. NBC’s Olympic trials coverage did a 4.4/8 to move up to second. ABC was third with "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition," which edged the 3.2/6 averaged by "The Simpsons" and "Arrested Development" on FOX. On The WB, "Charmed" did a 1.4/3.

NBC moved into first at 9 p.m. with the 6.1/11 for "Law & Order: Criminal Intent." CBS was second with the first hour of "Soul Collector," which did a 5.9/10. ABC got third place numbers out of the witchcraft film "Practical Magic," which was better than the 2.8/5 for "Malcolm in the Middle" and "Quintuplets" on FOX. Once again, The WB was in last with "Charmed."

"Crossing Jordan" helped NBC close the night strong, taking a 6.4/11 for the 10 p.m. hour. CBS’ movie remained in second and ABC’s "Practical Magic" did a 5.0/8 in its final hour.
