Firefly

Two catches: first, it’s only available in the Battlestar Galactica season 1 box set; second, that set isn’t supposed to be out until next week (7/26). Apparently the Memphis stores can’t read street dates. I just about swallowed my tongue when I saw the sticker on the cover: "Bonus Disc! Get a sneak peek at the upcoming Joss Whedon film Serenity".

The disc isn’t very long (13 minutes), but it covers a whole lot of ground, and you guys are just gonna love it. It’s in three sections, each with behind the scenes stuff interspersed with interview clips. The first, "The Universe of Serenity", mostly features Joss. The second, "On the Set", mostly features the cast. And the third?

The third section is titled "The Fans".

Section three runs about half the disc, and features footage shot at the first two rounds of screenings, from many of the cities that were involved. Fans in line, costumes, the special guests arriving onstage, interviews with fans, even night-vision footage of the crowds watching the screening. Many of you who were at the first two rounds will be able to catch a glimpse of yourselves in this section. I hate to advocate spending fifty bucks for a free preview disc (Hey, Galactica’s great, too!), but if you’re a Browncoat, you are gonna love this disc. Check your local Best Buy stores (the regular retail version is in all stores 9/27, and may or may not have the preview disc). If it’s not on their shelves now, it will be next Tuesday. You guys *have* to have this; I know I did.
