On new season Sex in the City, Sarah Jessica Parker sports a now famously short bob of tousled curls and comments to Samantha on how they’re too old to dress like they do anymore- they’re getting older, and they celebrate babies and 36th birthdays together. Sarah Michelle Gellar, who in real life in a much more grown up move than her first-job-getting character, married Freddie Prinze. Similarly, her vampire butt kicking character is also growing up. On Buffy, her much touted cute bob is grown out to a shoulder length style that she wears in a chignon and is called Dawn’s Mom to her chagrin. No! I’m her sister! says a disgusted Buffy... Getting old was a topic on Friends too this season, the final season they’re saying, with everyone’s fave bunch more famous off screen than on it seems nowadays- and storylines have to fit in with that, for example, who’d believe anyone would turn down Mrs Brad Pitt for a date?! The characters commented on getting older, and their changing lifestyles. Rachel made her hair cut a world-famous copied style six years ago, and continues to set trends with her styles. Despite getting older, all three women on Friends continue to have long super-straight shiny hair over their shoulders. Long hair, short hair- it’s a symbol of change on our favourite stars, a follicular sign that the times are a’changing. Now, if we could just get our hands on the Shortland Street stars’ hairstyles... |
