Hex won’t be vampire slaying, ok ?

Tuesday 19 October 2004, by Webmaster

The stars of a spooky new series starting this weekend say they can’t understand comparisons with ’Buffy The Vampire Slayer’.

’Hex’ is set in a remote private school - Christina Cole plays Cassie, a shy girl who’s plagued by weird visions, Jemima Ropper from ’As If’ plays her best friend.

But, although they reckon it’s a long way from ’Buffy’, unsurprisingly they’d love it to be just as successful:

"The flattering thing is that if our show is anything like as popular as ’Buffy’ then we’ve done well."

"But, it is completely different - I mean we thought it was going to be similar too, but when we saw it pieced together, it’s completely different."

Hex has started Sunday 17th October on Sky One.

It’s actually a really good series. It started on Sky1 on Sunday and I wanted to watch it... I was actually rather impressed. I can understand the comparisons... but the whole plot is different. It’s just the same genre... only... English!!

If you take Buffy and remove all the clever dialogue, all the softness and humour and originality and likeable characters, and instead add some creepy music and cheap scares that try make the audience jump...ehm...I suppose HEX could resemble Buffy. In other words, not much.

I thought it was ok, it could never get anywhere near Buffy, but for a British show it one of the only ones i’ve liked really ever.
