Mirror.co.uk AngelIn Dave’s Bad in the Buffy - Cameron’s nude encounter with Angel ActressStephen Moyes Wednesday 26 October 2005, by Webmaster TORY leadership favourite David Cameron once had a brief encounter with a naked TV actress he found in his bed, it was revealed last night. The Shadow Education Secretary walked in on stunning American blonde Stacey Travis after she had just taken off all her clothes in a London flat they were sharing. Last night the actress, who appeared in Angel - a spin-off of Buffy The Vampire Slayer - and Desperate Housewives, was strangely coy about revealing what happened next. She said: "David has enough things floating around to deal with. I’m hesitant to say anything in case it’s the wrong thing. "It worries me that it could be construed wrongly and or used in any way to embarrass him." The Texan-born beauty first boasted about the encounter during a Buffy fans’ convention at Heathrow earlier this year. Advertisement Click to learn more... She told complete strangers of the night the 39-year-old MP saw her naked in his bedroom. Stacey - a close friend of Cameron’s flatmate - was using the MP’s bedroom when the Eton-educated Tory boy returned home unexpectedly from a trip. But when the Mirror caught up with her yesterday the single actress - who has also appeared in Seinfeld, Frasier and ER - was reluctant to reveal exactly what took place. Talking about her and "Dave", she said she met Cameron through a mutual friend. The usually chatty star seemed lost for words when asked for the bare facts of that one particular night. "Oh my God, who told you about that!" she exclaimed. After collecting her thoughts, she went on: "A friend of mine was David’s flatmate. I used to stay in his room when he was out of town." Pressed further, she added: "If he wins Prime Minister then call me back, I’ll tell you then. "He’s a dear, dear friend of a good friend of mine and I’m hesitant to say anything, in case it’s the wrong thing. I mean I have nothing but nice things to say about him. I don’t know whether I should talk about that situation. I don’t feel comfortable." Stacey, who starred with George Clooney and Catherine Zeta-Jones in the 2003 movie Intolerable Cruelty, said the encounter took place when John Major was PM between 1990 and 1997. At the time Cameron was policy advisor to Norman Lamont during the Black Wednesday crisis which left millions in mortgage misery. He and wife Sam - who were teenage sweethearts - are expecting their third child in February. Stacey said: "One of his closest friends from childhood is a dear friend of mine. "And when I came over to England to work, or for various things, I would stay in my friend’s flat, and his flatmate was David." She added: "David would always be off writing speeches and following Major around Scotland or whatever, so I would stay in his flat." In a conversation with one of Cameron’s aides before speaking to the Mirror, Stacey joked she might spill the beans about what happened. She admitted: "I said I would be talking to the Mirror and I said, ’Shall I tell that story about David’, and we laughed. He goes, ’Oh God. We’ve got enough things floating around to deal with’. "You know what I’m saying...there’s nothing bad about the story. It’s actually quite funny. Quite innocent and funny." Despite her fondness for Cameron, Stacey doesn’t believe he will ever make it to No10. She says: "It seems to me that people will want Gordon Brown. He may get the nomination but is the country ready for a change?" Last night a spokesman for Cameron said: "David did know Stacey Travis. She was a friend of a friend. He has no comment on this incident. "He has nothing further to say on that - but he did conduct himself in an honourable way." |
