  The hair, as seen in these pics, is currently dyed and chemically straightened for his role on Smallville. I saw him in Toronto this past weekend and can assure you he is in fine shape been clearly working out and is no thinner than he was for much of his tenure on Buffy. He appears very healthy and certainly very happy.

  Perhaps the weight loss is to get back into "Spike-shape"... a sign of a Spike movie to come? I know, I know, it’s mere specualtion on my part, but I did find his face in Angel season 5 a wee-bit chunky, for a vampire of course...

  NOOOOOOOOOO!!!!! My God, what happened to him? He looks like he lost alot of weight, i mean, just look at his neck for an example. And..damn he is starting to show those signs of aging, finally. :-( Aw man.

  Wow, it almost looks like whoever posted these pics had an agenda, and chose the worst pics they had. I was in Toronto last weeekend and I can assure you he looks as gorgeous as ever, although the hair colour is not the best for him.

  I hate to tell you folks, but Brown is his natural hair color. Give the guy a break ... Sheesh. James is still looking very healthy and happy. Just because he doesn’t look like "Spike" with his bleached locks doesn’t mean that the man himself isn’t still looking very good. If you truly enjoy James’ work and not just Spike, look at the whole man. These aren’t the best pics to represent how he really did look at the con.
