From Horrorchannel.com James MarstersJames Marsters Ready To Bite Again ?Thursday 1 September 2005, by Webmaster Rumors from the Buffy-verse. I tread carefully around them to avoid a broken heart. It’s no secret that I’m a fan of the mythology Joss Whedon’s established and I’m always interested in hearing a good slice of speculation regarding the Slayer’s return every now and then. But I’m cautious, ya know? Lately I’ve been following the headlines at AICN concerning a Spike made-for-television movie. Granted, it’s not a Slayer flick, but a Spike solo adventure is about the next best thing. According to the AICN boys, Angel scribe Tim Minear was approached by Whedon to pen the Spike project, and at the Rue Morgue Festival of Fear, the man who made Spike what he is, actor James Marsters, spoke a bit about the possibility. "I am willing to put Spike to rest, but I would love to play him again," Marsters told a packed house Sunday afternoon. "There are constant rumblings in the background that there would be a project that would have that happen. I have been approached on the periphery about it, kind’ve like, ’We’re not really thinking of doing this, but if we did, would you be interested?’" Marsters’ interest in sliding back into Spike’s skin comes with its own stipulation, however. "Joss came up to me when ’Angel’ was still filming and asked me if I’d be interested in a TV movie and I said, ’Hell, yeah. But you have five years.’ Because this character read as a twenty-seven year old [when I first took the role], I was thirty-five then but kinda looked twenty-seven. Now I’m fourty-three looking like a thirty-five year old, but my character is not supposed to age one day. I think I could maybe match that first shot, but I think I maybe have about two more years [left]." 5 Forum messages |
