From SFX magazine #103 James Marsters - SFX Magazine #103 (2/2)By Kenneth Hubbard Thursday 27 March 2003, by Webmaster Here is another section from the James Marsters feature in SFX magazine #103 ( April2003) BTW David Boreanez fans get their turn next month in #104. As always please feel free to post this elsewhere but give the mag and the writer( Kenneth Hubbard) due credit. First things first, there is a spoof small ad in the back of the mag which reads For Sale Electronic chip Stops you doing nasty things. Place in brain, and off you go! Buyer must collect. Email William@bloody.com Well it made me giggle Anyway, from the section entitled " Best Of Spike" ( sorry I don’t have a scanner as this is illustrated with the scenes in question) Cool! Sexy! Hard! Funny! Punky! And often naked Spike at his Funniest First, Spikes speech in the Angel episode "In The Dark" (" Quick.. to the Angel mobile!") It was voted funniest line of dialogue in the SFX reader survey Awards 2000and we’re not arguing with you. But we would like to add Spike’s line in " No Place Like Home" when Buffy finds him lurking behind a tree " What are you doing here? Buffy asks before adding impatiently" Five words or less" . Spike replies, counting out the words on his fingers " Out. For. A . Walk..." Pause for thought" Bitch" Spike at his Coolest Without a doubt the scene in " Fool For Love" where he showed Buffy how he hilled the 1970s Slayer on the New York Subway. Not only did we find out where he got his iconic long, dark, leather coat, but he proved once and for all that he’s based on Sid vicious and not Billy Idol. Pity we never saw that Slayer again though ( Not in corporeal form anyway) She looked just as cool as he did. Spike at his Most Violent Wearing the Gem Of Amara in " The Harsh Light Of Day", Spike became invincible and proceeded to beat the crap put of Buffy in broad daylight . We can’t help but wonder what would have happened if he’d kept it on , but we’re glad we never found out.A Special mention also goes to the trials he endured in " Grave". Spike went through all sorts of nasty tasks to regain his soul, just so that Buffy could Lurve him. ( Although, hang on, that’s not really " hard" is it? It’s a bit soppy in fact . Perish the thought) Spike at his Most Surprised Trying to bite Willow after the initiative panted their chip inside his head, Spike discovered that just the thought of hurting a human brought him immense pain. Cue a conversation between them which ended with Willow comforting him " It’s all right, we can try again in half an hour" as though he was experiencing another sort of problem entirely!"Also don’t forget the time he woke from a dream and realised he was in love with the Slayer. He looked pretty damn surprised to us. Spike at his craziest We’ll ignore , for the moment his crazy behaviour in the latest series; think back instead to Spikes little cameo in season three’s " Lovers Walk". He kidnapped Willow and tried to force her to perform a spell that would make Drusilla love him again. He was a useless . broken fool, heartsick and purposeless. Luckily , by the end of that episode he had an epiphany , and we saw.. Spike at His Punkiest Spike driving out of Sunnydale listening to Gary Oldman’s version of Sid vicious’ " My Way" After regaining his confidence and joie de vivre. Bloody awesome Spike at his Most Vulnerable Crying on the floor after Buffy dies in " The Gift" Surely one of the greatest Spike moments ever, as James Marsters gives the scene everything he’s got. Apparently it was Hell to film too, and we’re quite upset that it didn’t last longer than a few shots. Oh Well. Spike at his Most Disturbing Playing poker with loads of demons. for KITTENS? We don’t even wanna think about what they do with their winnings Spike at His Horniest Forget everything he did with Buffy- even though he was deliciously nekkid for most of it- Spikes sexiest moment happened when he was with Harmony in " Harsh Light Of Day" Harmony dares to criticise Drusilla and Spike snaps " Bite your tongue". Her response? " Do it for me" some hot snogging ensues. Woah mamma Spike at his Most Feeble Before he got bit. Just check out the hair and glasses! Not to mention the poetry Spike at His Most Naked Just about any episode from season six , really. And finally a little snippet from Mr Spike alike Steve Crichter " Meeting James Marsters . which wasn’t real to me. I didn’t believe it happened. Okay this is actually HIM! I was like " Okay hi! Don’t hit me ! but he was such a nice bloke.. Later I went out for some food and I heard someone shouting "Spike!" I turned around and James Marsters was leaning out of a car window with half his body hanging out waving goodbye to me" |
