James Marsters

Actor, songwriter and musician James Wesley Marsters was born in Greenville, California on August 20 and raised in Modesto, California.

His father used to be a minister and James has one brother and one sister. James graduated from Davis High School and attended the prestigious Julliard. He spent about 10 years doing stage work and performed in various plays in New York, Chicago and Seattle before finally moving to Los Angeles in order to pursue a career in film and television acting.

James joined TV series Buffy The Vampire Slayer with Juliet Landau as British vampires Spike and Drusilla. It was supposed to be a short-lived role, but the character was so popular that Spike became a regular on the program and went on to appear in spin-off series Angel.

More recently he has starred in the movie Cool Money, appeared in the TV series The Mountain and brought out his debut album Civilized Man.

Most recently he played Brainiac in the new series of Smallville and filmed new movie Shadow Puppets, currently in post-production. He also recently presented his own adaptation of Shakespeare’s Macbeth for the first time on the London stage, of which a DVD is available.
