James Marsters

James Marsters told us the secret of playing a great villain: "You have to come to grips with the fact that it’s fun to hurt people." He also explained his personal religion, and his scheme to come back to Torchwood.

Marsters, who played Spike on Buffy The Vampire Slayer as well as Barnabus on Caprica, Brainiac on Smallville and Captain John on Torchwood, is just as fun in real life as he is on screen. He couldn’t tell us much about what’s coming next for his characters on Smallville or Caprica, but he did tell us the secret of playing a memorable villain:

You have to come to grips with the fact that it’s fun to hurt people. That’s a hard thing to admit. But there actually is a rush to it. And if you give in to it, then you’re evil.

He also told us that he suspects Brainiac doesn’t actually feel any emotions, but he’s so good at pretending to have emotions, nobody will ever know. He says he knows he has a huge role in Smallville’s 200th episode, and he assumes that Clark will kick his butt really good, and then melt him down or blow him up into the sun.

Also, he told us what his personal religion would be about if he were to start one:

Forgive each other. Be cool, and don’t judge each other. And if you pee in the pool, then I’ll be there.

And he explains his plans to get Russell T. Davies to give him a part in the new Torchwood season.

If he doesn’t call me, then I am going to find him. I will tickle him until he bleeds.
