Mtv.com Jane EspensonJane Espenson - "Husbands" Web Series - About Joss WhedonThursday 30 August 2012, by Webmaster If you’ve seen this then you know that Joss Whedon can legitimately add “actor” to his writer/producer/director title. Whedon’s next role will be a bit more grounded in reality – he’ll play a sports agent in the second season of “Husbands,” the web series created by Jane Espenson and Brad Bell. Season 2 premieres on Wednesday, August 15. The “husbands” of the series are Cheeks (an actor, played by Bell) and Brady (a baseball player, played by Sean Hemeon), who wake up married after a wild night in Vegas. During the first season Cheeks and Brady were coming to terms with their very new marriage; season 2 picks up three weeks later. “The guys have moved into a new house, they’ve started to settle into the marriage, but everything is still really new. At this point, they’ve known each other something like two months, so there is a lot they don’t know about each other,” says Bell. “They’re going to deal with how they want to present themselves as a couple – both as public figures and private people.” Espenson is a long-time contributor to the Whedonverse, and the first season of “Husbands” featured a cameo by Captain Mal/Captain Hammer/Caleb, Nathan Fillion. The upcoming season will include many more Whedon vets, including Felicia Day (who will portray “a saucy minx with a yen for saucy treats”), Emma Caulfield (“a hard-nosed gal with no tolerance for shenanigans”) and Amber Benson. Also, of course, Whedon himself. “He loved season 1 of ‘Husbands’,” Espenson says. “When we approached him with the script for season 2, he liked the material and came on board. We were over the moon. We still are!” And Espenson gives high marks to Whedon’s acting skills. “We gave him lots to do and he rose to the occasion. He is natural and funny and just perfect!” |
