Itsownsubgenre.com The Cabin in the WoodsJoss Whedon - "Cabin in the Woods" Movie to change his title ?Saturday 24 January 2009, by Webmaster The latest edition of Production Weekly (to which I don’t have access) lists a film called Mordecai, which it claims is also known as The Cabin in the Woods. While it’s not clear, since I don’t have access to the issue itself, if it’s the same The Cabin in the Woods as the one with which we are concerned here, there’s some indication that it might be. There do exist, in fact, what purport to be casting sides for a film calling itself Cabin in the Woods, and related information which suggests the film used to be known as Mordecai, with a casting director whose name matches that of a casting director for Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Firefly, and Dollhouse. These sides appear to be from November of 2008. It should be noted that my suspicion is that these sides do not present pages from the actual script, but scenes written specifically for the casting process. At this point, I do not believe that they tell us anything about the film itself, so I won’t bother to get into their content. For whatever it’s worth, while I’ve obviously mentioned their existence here, and despite my belief that they are not actual script pages, my own personal policy here is not to link to, or embed, material such as casting sides. Update: It should be noted that I have no good reason for not previously hearing the name Mordecai in this context, since The Movie Insider had it as an AKA back in November of last year, the same month as the apparent casting sides. |
