Fearnet.com The Cabin in the WoodsJoss Whedon - "Cabin in the Woods" Movie - Words from 2009 NYC Comic ConMonday 9 February 2009, by Webmaster Last week, genre maestro Joss Whedon told FEARnet reporter Alyse Wax that, after viewing his upcoming horror film Cabin in the Woods (which Whedon co-wrote with writer/director Drew Goddard of Cloverfield fame) there will be no need to view any other horror films. At this weekend’s New York Comic Con, Whedon held a press conference to promote his new series Dollhouse (along with Dollhouse star Tahmoh Penikett). Fearing for our jobs as horror movie reporters, we couldn’t resist the urge to ask Whedon if he truly felt Cabin would satisfy, for the rest of their lives, the fans’ need for new horror films – and, if he was not kidding, exactly why he felt this way. Here’s what the beloved TV, comic, and filmmaker told us… "I was kidding. Hopefully, they’ll still want to see horror films, because I love them. It’s just that Drew and I have a lifelong love of lots of horror movies. This is a representation of our comments on horror movies, as well as our attempt to do a straight-up, balls-out, really terrifying horror movie. Obviously there will still be representatives. I was being facetious. I believe you’ll find I often am." Whew! Just checking, Joss. |
