From Chud.com Joss WhedonJoss Whedon - Chud.com’s Wonder Woman UpdateBy Devin Faraci Tuesday 22 February 2005, by Webmaster It’s the Joel Silver stories that make me a little sad, because our ex-Smilin’ Jack Ruby used to love the producer so. But we must carry on, and tonight we must report to you the latest words from Silver’s mouth in regards to Joss Whedon and Wonder Woman. SciFi Wire caught up with Silver at Wondercon, and asked him about the creator of Buffy writing and directing a big screen version of DC Comics’ Amazon Princess. "I’m trying," Silver said. "I’m trying to work a deal with Joss. ... I was just in the other room [where Whedon was talking about his upcoming SF movie, Serenity]. I don’t know if I could work that out. It’s a complicated deal to do, but I would love him to do it. It would be great if he could do it." Silver went on to say "The idea is to try to find a way to make it, and I thought Joss has a great idea, because he understands a kind of female superhero character, and also he’s great at what he does. So I’m trying to find the best way to do it. ... We’re working our way through it." Here’s my take (I know you’re dying for it): Whedon should stay away. We know he can do strong women - now move on to something else. That’s beside the fact that I believe there is no audience for female superheroes (movies or comics) and Whedon would be doing this after his Serenity doesn’t wow them at the box office (sorry, guys, I have no faith in the film’s ability to make money. I am not saying it won’t be good, I’m saying no one is going to see it) - he should find a homerun for his next picture. Take that goddamn X3 gig, Joss. If you’re going to do a superhero movie, that should be the one. Keywords1 Message |
