From Serenitymovie.com Joss WhedonJoss Whedon Fields More Questions From The BrowncoatsSaturday 20 August 2005, by Webmaster Q. Joss! Please let us know your A) Most touching fan encounter....B) Most bizarre fan encounter....and C) favorite late night snack! A. A) The one that comes to mind most recently is when I was in New York seeing a play, the revival of Assassins, a girl stopped me and started to thank me for the shows and just broke down crying and it was kinda beautiful and unexpected because it wasn’t a convention; it was at a Broadway show, and that really stuck with me. B) My most bizarre fan encounter was probably the time I saw a perfectly articulate and, in fact, well-respected guy become totally tongue-tied and unable to speak, not once but twice. The embarrassing part is the person I’m talking about is me. It’s when I met Bernadette Peters. C) A nice medium rare leg of lamb with a basil and sage sauce and a little mint jelly, unfortunately by the time it’s late at night there is no one to make me that so I haven’t ever actually had it late at night, but that would be my favorite. Maybe some potatoes on the side. Q. How would you describe Serenity in one sentence to people who never saw the series? A. I guess I would describe Serenity as a sci-fi action drama about the price of freedom. Or, Citizen Kane with spaceships. I could go either way. Q. What was your favorite science-fiction/fantasy themed television show during your childhood? Which one stands out in your memory and do you feel it influences your current creative endeavors? A. I’m not sure if this fits the criteria but "The Prisoner" was hugely beloved and influential to me although I am far too didactic ever to be that abstract. Q. Which character is most like you? A. I feel that I’m Wash if he had the job of Mal and secretly wanted to be Zoë, and liked to put on some of Inara’s outfits. |
