The Avengers

Joss Whedon, out stumping his upcoming downunder tour, told The Sunday Herald-Sun a little about his plans for the upcoming superhero blockbuster, "The Avengers".

King Browncoat didn’t reveal anything very new, but he did state that in addition to Scarlett Johansson’s Black Widow, there will be other female characters in the movie - suggesting, possibly, that Gwyneth Paltrow may reprise Pepper Potts and/or that some of the other heroes’ love interests (Betty Ross?) might play a part in the film.

"It is true that the movie is only going to have one female avenger", Whedon said of Johansson’s part. "But she will not be the only female character".

As for the storyline of the film, Whedon will only say "It will be a new story that has many things from different arcs of the comics in it. There is no one Avengers story that you can just do the way that you can do the origin of Spider-Man. You really have to cull from the original and The Ultimates, which is one of The Avengers titles."
