Tvguide.com Joss WhedonJoss Whedon - "Veronica Mars" Tv Series to be canceledMichael Ausiello Thursday 17 May 2007, by Webmaster "Veronica Mars" won’t be part of the fall schedule, but there is a rumor... Veronica Mars is Not on CW’s Fall Sked The roller-coaster ride continues... I’m hearing the schedule that the CW will present to advertisers on Thursday morning does not include Veronica Mars in any form: college, FBI or otherwise. That doesn’t, however, mean the show is dead. One rumor making the rounds is that Dawn Ostroff is delaying a decision until after the upfront. I don’t know how much longer I can take this! Update (from Ask Ausiello): Question: I don’t understand you. First, you reported that Veronica Mars’ chance of survival had gone from "so-so" to "pretty good." Now with the news that Rob Thomas has been asked to run a new pilot on CBS, VM’s chances have gone back down to "slim." What gives?- Gina Olson Ausiello: What did I tell you about shooting the messenger? The messenger is just doing his job. The messenger is good. And the messenger has an update: Last night at ABC’s upfront bash, a high-level Warner Bros. executive confirmed what I first reported yesterday: It’s entirely possible that the CW will delay a decision on Mars’ fate until after Thursday’s upfront. Contractually, the net has until June 15 to reach a verdict, and the extra time would allow Rob Thomas to produce an actual script for VM in the FBI. That’s one scenario. The other scenario is that the show is dead. I think we can all agree that Scenario One is preferable. One thing is certain: VM will not be on the schedule that Dawn Ostroff presents to advertisers on Thursday morning. The messenger wishes he had better news. |
