Joss Whedon - "Wonder Woman" Movie - Joel Silver says more

Tuesday 6 March 2007, by Webmaster

Producer Joel Silver was very adamant about what the new "Wonder Woman" movie will not be about. At the WonderCon in San Francisco this weekend he flatly stated that, despite the fact that the studio bought a script that sets Wonder Women as a period piece in the World War II era, he is not at all interested in doing that kind of film.

It may be remembered that proposed writer and director of the feature, Joss Whedon quit the film project after the studio bought up a script from relative newcomers Matthew Jennison and Brent Strickland. There screenplay put Wonder Woman back in her original setting of the 1940’s.

Commenting on that script Silver stated, "We didn’t buy it for that. There were some good ideas in it, but it was out there, and we wanted to just kind of not have it not floating around. We wanted just to acquire it and keep it."

The producer also admitted that since Whedon left he has not been actively looking for someone to replace him in the director’s chair.
