Joss Whedon - ’Wonder Woman’ Movie - Katie Holmes rumored for the role

Nicole Kidman atthe MTV awards / AP THERE were no claws or even dirty looks (well, not that we know of anyway) when Nicole Kidman came face to face with ex-hubby Tom Cruise and his girlfriend Katie Holmes for the first time at yesterday’s MTV Movie Awards in LA.

Kidman, in a black figure-hugging knee-length dress, arrived at the ceremony a few minutes before Cruise and Holmes and was one of the first presenters on stage, handing out the gong for Best On Screen Team. Cruise picked up the MTV Generation Award (like a lifetime achievement award), bringing a giggly Holmes up to collect it.

But if overseas reports are right, Nic is going to have to get used to seeing the new lovebirds, with Holmes one of the top choices to don Wonder Woman’s red-and-blue costume in Joel Silver’s new film to be shot in Sydney.

Holmes said if the script was good, she’d be "very interested" and would bring Cruise with her.

"I’d have to read it," she said.

Holmes admitted she idolised Wonder Woman as a child: "I was part of the majority of little girls who loved Wonder Woman."

Meanwhile Nic, who has never been known for her openness when it comes to relationships, has denied she is seeing the French boss of Gucci, Francois-Henri Pinault.

Although in Nic-speak, it probably means the pair are a hot item.

Since splitting with Cruise in 2001, she has never publicly confirmed she was seeing anyone despite admitting being "very close friends" with suitors including Steve Bing and now Pinault.

Rachel McAdams won three awards, including breakthrough female performance for her role as the top mean girl in Mean Girls and best kiss for her rain-soaked smooch with Ryan Gosling in The Notebook.

McAdams’ third award, for on-screen team, was shared with Mean Girls co-star Lindsay Lohan, who also received the award for best female performance.

Napoleon Dynamite was named best movie and star Jon Heder received two awards: breakthrough male performance and best musical performance for his awkward talent-show dance moves.

"I want to thank Michael Jackson, John Travolta, Justin Timberlake," Heder said, referring to the inspirations for his dance moves.

Other winners included Leonardo DiCaprio for best male performance and Daryl Hannah and Uma Thurman for best fight in the Kill Bill Vol. 2 sequel.

Child actor Dakota Fanning won best frightened performance in Hide and Seek and Dustin Hoffman won best comedic performance for Meet the Fockers.

Ben Stiller poked fun at the Hollywood tradition of speaking out for causes when he accepted the trophy for best villain for Dodgeball.

Holding an egg, he spoke out against high cholesterol.

"Take a look at this little fella. He’s killed more people than all the Hollywood bad guys combined," Stiller said. "Crush cholesterol now."

The awards, based on fan votes, will be broadcast later this week.

  • I’ve seen this article, and there appears to be no basis for the statements about Katie Holmes being considered for WW. Last thing Joss Whedon or Joel Silver has said on the topic is they want to finish the script before they begin the casting process, and Joss won’t start the script until he finishes dealing with Serenity.

Methinks this is just the Australian media trying to make more of this story than is really there, being that Katie is a hot American actress who was visiting Australia at the time, and WW is supposed to be filmed in Oz.

  • gota say, i think katie holmes is a bit too cute to play WW
