KTCU Blender show’s Whedon-verse playlist

11/26 show

Wow.

That’s just all there is to say. Yesterday was pretty much fangirl heaven for Meg & Celeste. The one and only Joss Whedon was on Fanboy Radio, and in his honor we played music from his many fabulous works. Buffy the Vampire Slayer (the movie and the television series), Angel: The Series, Firefly, & Serenity were all featured, and we are both still amazed that we made it through the experience without any Stage-5 Fangirl Panic Attacks! So here’s the playlist...

1) Buffy Theme / The Breeders
2) Angel Theme (Catharsis Mix) / Darling Violetta
3) Firefly (Main Title) / Sonny Rhodes
4) Overture/Going Through The Motions / Buffy, Vampire, Demon, & Victim
5) Temptation Waits / Garbage
6) Chinese Burn / Curve
7) Pavlov’s Bell / Aimee Mann
8) I’ve Got A Theory/Bunnies/If We’re Together / Giles, Willow, Xander, Anya, Tara, & Buffy
9) Virgin State of Mind / K’s Choice
10) soundclip: "Country Music" / Xander
11) Serenity / David Newman
12) Sugar Water / Cibo Matto
13) soundclip: "Cordy, your mouth is movinng..." / Buffy
14) Teenage FBI / Guided By Voices
15) I’ll Never Tell / Anya & Xander
16) Silent City / Matthew Sweet
17) Transylvanian Concubine / Rasputina
18) soundclip: "Who’s a little fear demon?" / Xander
19) Ballad For Dead Friends / Dashboard Prophets
20) Something To Sing About / Buffy & Spike
21) Pain (Slayer Mix) / Four Star Mary
22) Just As Nice / Man Of The Year
23) Rest In Peace / Spike
24) Firefly (Main Title) / Sonny Rhodes (yes, we played this twice)
25) Bohemian Like You / The Dandy Warhols

We may have played one other song just before FbR started, but if so we just cannot remember what specifically it was. We were a little flustered to begin with, and as his greatness was running late (which really means the rest of us were just early) getting home from his kids’ playdate with Amy Acker’s kids, and we were kind of scrambling to fill time. But it was all worth it because then he was there, talking, and answering questions, and being all kinds of Joss-y fabulous as only he can be, so it was all worth it. "I don’t believe in a just and all-knowing dinosaur." Greatness.

Anyway, now that we are coming down off of the Joss excitement, its time to start gearing up for next week’s show! Next Sunday, 12/3, will be the official Blender Hanukkah show! As both of your favorite Blender Babes are proud Jew-girls, we will be dedicating a whole hour to the Festival of Lights. We will be featuring songs about Hanukkah, as well as fun stuff by Jewish artists. So be sure and tune in next Sunday at 5 pm CST. Mazel tov!
