Angel bits 10/9/03 •Just for the record-E ! TV’s Kristen said it…we didn’t. She said that young, innocent and extremely kind-hearted Fred would be becoming something of a beeotch this season. Come to think of it we did see a flash of temper when she shrieked at her underlings in the season opener. When a fan asked Kristen if it will be like Cordy-on-Buffy, the TV maven spilled that Fred will be more like an "assertive-Buffy-in-later-years" kind of thing. And much like Buffy The Vampire Slayer in years before, we also have a fabulous Halloween-themed episode to look forward to this year (we’re certain we have JW to thank for that one !), where Lorne will receive mysterious powers that make people do whatever he says. We predict a lot of singing. •According to Robert Bianco (reporting for the USA Today last week), the "…renewed and revamped Angel proves that all is well in the Buffyverse." Bianco, in his infinite wisdom of all TV-related goodness, recognizes that now that Buffy is gone, the departure of BTVS now allows Joss Whedon to "…focus his creative gifts on Buffy’s spinoff." And focus is right. Here are the changes as Robert Bianco (and all true fans of the show) sees them : "Angel and his friends are now running the LA branch of the world’s most powerful and evil ’multidimensional corporation.’ Cordelia is gone, but the show gains the comic addition of Harmony as an inept vampire assistant with a spicy new recipe for blood. There have been structural changes as well : The episodes are more self-contained, and the stories are easier to follow. What hasn’t altered is Whedon’s ingenious mix of comedy and suspense ; his fascination with the meanings of right, wrong and responsibility ; and his ability to produce a ceaselessly entertaining hour of television." Ceaselessly entertaining indeed ! •Miss Cordy ? If you do, you won’t want to miss "Miss Match" this Friday ! Catch her when she joins Alicia Silverstone in her new drama from Emmy Award-winning producer Darren Star (you know - "Melrose Place," "Sex and the City" Darren Star !). And get this - "Miss Match" is being filmed on the old Buffy set which has been rebuilt for the new show. It’s a veritable homecoming for the gal ! Catch her in the episode titled "Something Nervy" this Friday the 10th. •Ellen has a date with an Angel and you can be part of it.
